"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ..."
I am so glad the Holy Spirit prompted Peter to include that phrase. It reminds me that there is a purpose behind each difficult moment that we find ourselves in, and really, having that perspective on things allows us to relax a bit and let the Lord do His work in us, as hard as it may seem at the time.
You know, most everyone I know is going through some difficulty right now. Every story is different, but the pain and heartache are strikingly similar.
In this world you will have trouble...
It is not for nothing. It is only if need be. The Savior does not take these things lightly. These hard times must be absolutely necessary to our growth, so that our lives bring praise to Him in a way they wouldn't otherwise.
Cling to that truth, no matter what situation you find yourself in today.
Today the boys have been vegging out with Ezra, who is finally old enough to sit with them and enjoy their company! So fun!

I just finished watching the first part of Louie Giglio's new-ish video Hope. He talks alot about "in this world you will have trouble" and the hope that we have in the Lord. I think it must have been the Lord's timing that I flipped over here and saw your post.
You say it so well, Rachel! Those precise thoughts have been on my mind lately! Thanks for sharing and reminding!
Rachel,
I love the picture of Ezra watching Simon and being a big boy.

Thanks for the reminder...
I love your thoughts on this. I have never thought about that phrase before, but have been thinking on it ever since I read your post. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing this Rachel! It is so true, "only if need be"! God is so good to us! Sometimes it's hard to see at first, but truly the hard times are a sign of God's love and care for us! He is the perfect teacher and knows exactly what we need and when and how to get us there most effectively! I was encouraged many years ago to get on my knees as soon as I'm aware of a trial and thank God for it. I have to say that making a habit of this has helped my perspective get on the right track very quickly. I know that everytime I (we) have gone through some trying time we have come away with loads of invaluable treasures! TRULY GOD IS GOOD!
P.S. Can I just say thay you look ridiculously great for being 8 weeks from your due date!
