Photoshop Elements is in the House, edited
My Mother's Day gift arrived, and I've been reading the manual and trying to figure this software out. I can see some improvement already, but I'm not really sure I can trust my eye yet. Is there something *off* in the color of this photo? I do like how much sharper I was able to get his eyes (scroll down for the iPhoto version below).
Is this better? I did push the yellow down a little - but I'm not sure it's that noticeable.

I am sure you cannot trust my eye, since I am so not good at this kind of thing. But I really like it, especially his freckles!
The eyes do look better! If you still have the file in RAW you could adjust the white balance to be a little less yellow. Great job with editing!
Scott Kelby has a great book for Photoshop Elements. Worth every penny I say!
There is just a hint of yellow.
May I suggest that you save all your RAW files on discs or an external hard drive. I have saved all my original files knowing that I had so much to learn in editing and that one day I can go back and re-edit them when I have that knowledge. And one day I will get there!!
Okay, I will work on that, April. I can't figure out how to get back into the RAW editor (or whatever it is called) after I've opened the RAW file in Elements. Does that sentence make sense? :) Can I go backward and fix my white balance and yellow stuff after I've already opened it in Elements?
I don't think you can go back. If you still have the RAW file, then you can start over on the picture though.
My Photoshop automatically saves all my RAW files to a folder under My Pictures. I don't know how yours is set up, but I'm betting they are on your computer somewhere. Try doing a search for NEF files and that should find them for ya.
Okay, I figured it out. It is so confusing! I was totally missing the whole Bridge thing (do you use that if you don't have a mac? I have no idea!) where everything is organized. I need to figure out files and stuff - I haven't imported too many pics yet, but I know that once I do, it will be a total mess.
Thanks for your help, girls!
yay for you getting elements! that rocks. you are going to LOVE it.
