Hall Bath Remodel

I forgot to take before pictures, but you remember that hall bath, don't you? Cracked tub, dated 70's wood vanity with rotted wood and a door hanging off, cracked marble countertop. To our credit, when we moved in (of course, that was 5 years ago), we stripped all the purple butterfly wallpaper, painted the walls a neutral shade, and put in a new lighting fixture and towel bars (which we are keeping). I think everything else is going though. :)

Since this is what is going on in my life right now, I'll share some of the work in progress. I was able to sneak a couple pics during the crew's lunch break.

The tub is in! Granted, this is just a regular, ol' tub, but to me, it is beautiful! No cracks means no leaks, and that is a good thing.

As you can see, they have drywalled the tub surround, and have started mud and taping it. As I type this, I can hear the cement board being installed on the floor for tile. Yeah, it's really loud around here, and of course it happens to be nap time too. :)

Oh, so the contractor told Dave today that he would be done with the dry wall this week, so if we want to, we could paint this weekend. Paint????!!! What color am I painting this bathroom?! I have just been thinking about tile and countertops for the last couple weeks.

Looks great! That was my thought too "Paint??!! She never said anything about paint!" Hmm...maybe a color that matches the counter top specks?? Didn't you say it has specks of gold in it??

Fun! I am so glad you posted pictures!
So, what kind of countertop are you putting in?

wow! so fun to see how a project comes along with a crew working during the DAY! :)

I vote for matching the countertop/floor theme.

well, I am deciding between 2 countertop options, both at Home Depot.

The first one is Granite, the color is Beige. It's $199, not the price listed...I think they are running a special:
Granite

The other option doesn't seem to be online. It's similar in price, a solid surface countertop with a fleck. Similar colors, but a little more muted, maybe a little lighter.

Okay, the tile we are going with isn't online either. :) But here is the lighter color.

Rialto Noce tile

It will be on the floor and shower surround.

So there you have it. Oh, and the vanity itself is white. And there will be painted white bead board installed halfway up all the way around the room. So we're just talking the top half of the room, when it comes to paint. I think the contractor wants us to give us the opportunity to paint before he installs everything. Which WILL be way easier.... but what color?????

We were just looking at that Granite countertop... :) sometimes I think we are way too alike. :)
I would definitely do the granite over SS. Unless you just happen to love the color of the SS. Granite is much nicer, in my opinion at least.
As far as color...I would probably try to stay away from anything too light. Maybe a medium/darker neutral tone?? I really like Brown Bag and Cup of Cocoa...I have used both of those.
Good luck!

That's funny, Ruth. :) Why were you guys looking at that granite? Are you redo-ing a bathroom?

I can't wait to see the finished product, Rach!

Is that granite the color Cappichino? Because that is the color Ruth and I picked out for our half bath. I really like that. Your bathroom is going to look great! Mom

Oh, I guess it is beige. But it looks very similar. Mom

OH, I'm so excited for you guys! Remodeling is so much fun... well, not the process, but the end product! Can't wait to see it all finished.

Oh you know...always dreaming. :)
We would like to put in new counter tops in our bath rooms, but we don't really NEED to. We always get so distracted in HD and Lowes and end up looking at stuff we don't actually want to do yet. The MB is going to be our first big project, so we were thinking we might put granite in that bath. Who knows...
Mom...the Cappuccino color was for a SS counter top, not Granite.
