A couple weeks ago Dave and I took the boys on a special trip to the toy store to get Ethan his first bike. Never mind that he's almost 4, and that all his friends have had bikes for almost 2 years now. We are obviously on the ball, as far as parents go. Kids don't need anything more than a stick and a rock, do they? :)
Ethan was beyond excited, and it took him forEVER to pick which bike he wanted. I thought he'd never choose. I only gave him a couple choices for the helmet to expedite the process. That, and I needed for the bike and helmet to match. Yes, needed. There - I said it. It's a sickness. I am quite aware. :)
Getting ready to ride...
And he's off!
I love this age!

don't forget, they also need a pile of dirt! :)
I am glad to see his bike. I have been hearing all about it.
Oh, how cute is that!!! I can tell he is loving it.
He looks so big riding around all serious on his bike :)
That brings back memories of you and your siblings riding your bikes up and down the street. I'm sure Ethan will have many happy hours riding that bike. He picked out a cool looking one too! (What would you have done if he wanted a pink one? :) Mom
I love this age too. They are willing to learn AND try. The greatest age. I have kids that I babysit that are around 3-6 and its my favorite age for the reasons I mentioned!
Way to go, Ethan! He looks like he is loving that bike...and it appears as though he is quite serious about the task at hand! Love it!
You're not that far behind! We got Danny his first bike for his 4th birthday - of course, even then, with the smallest one we could buy, his feet still didn't quite reach the pedals!
At least you didn't make E change his sweatshirt for the pics... that might really constitute a sickness :)
Lynn,
Hahahaha! So you noticed that his sweatshirt didn't match too!!!! :) No, I am not that bad. :)
That's funny about Danny's bike. We ended up buying Ethan a 16 inch (he's 3) because the height of it is where his inseam is. He's very tall. It's funny though because our 5 year old next door neighbor is riding her 12 inch bike around next to Ethan. It makes him look sooooo old! He is growing up on me.
Wow, way to go E! Looks like he is doing great already!
FYI, I would want the helmet and bike to match too. :)
dont feel bad, patrick has had a bike for 3 years and still doesnt know how to ride it because his mom and dad have never gotten training wheels for it! poor guy.
:) Wanting things to match is probably OK...afterall, we do serve a God of order!!
Also, I'm curious to hear a response to the pink question! What would you do? I've always wondered about boys and dolls and things. Who decided that pink and dolls were girly things anyway?! :)
