How do babies come out?

A few nights ago at bedtime Ethan prayed for the mommies we know that are pregnant right now. Shawna and Sonja (Yes, we are going to have a new cousin!) After he had prayed, he turned to me and said, "Mom, how is Shawna's baby going to get out of her tummy?"

I didn't know what to say, so I mumbled something like, "Well, when he is big enough, he will just come out."

"Oh," he said, looking thoughtful, "Well, how will we fix up the hole in her stomach when he comes out?"

I didn't expect to have conversations like this with my 3 year old!

Those talks are always fun! When they are little most of the time simple answers work, like God made it to work out, or God's in charge of fixing that hole, etc.
Later it gets trickier.

Rachel (my 3 year old) asked me today if I will be really tired when I push my baby out! I said yes, I'll be very tired!! I don't think she quite knows WHERE I'll push the baby out...I haven't volunteered that info yet! =)

Tabitha knows that it hurts to have a baby and it happens in the hospital with doctors. So she concluded that needles are involved and that's how they come out. I have not corrected her.
