Dillons had Sterling Silver Back Ribs on manager's special this week, and tonight we enjoyed a real down-home BBQ dinner. Baked potatoes with all the fixin's, steamed corn, and the sticky, gummy deliciousness of BBQ ribs. At least that's what all the boys in my family think.
Me, I'm not too fond of ribs, actually. Maybe it's how easy it is for me to imagine them as a rib cage on an animal. Maybe it's the mess. But regardless, Ethan ate mine, and then some.
I was fine with the baked potato, but that goes without saying. I've always been a potato lover, and sadly, they were the most difficult thing for me to give up when I did the South Beach Diet a few years back. Never again, I tell you! Never again.
So anyway, it was Ethan and Simon's first exposure to BBQ ribs, and I guess they like 'em!

so where is the pic of dave enjoying the ribs? :)
I agree on the potato thing, something is wrong with a diet when you can't have certain fruits and vegetables! It just seems so wrong.
Ooooh, Rachel, what a mess! I'll bet that was fun to clean up afterwards!
Don't get me started on South Beach....
There IS something about ribs and males...
The sliminess in my mind is pure fat, I just can't handle it.
Dave would not allow me to photograph him. :)
Yeah, South Beach is a killer...not my fav, but it sure slimmed me down after my first pregnancy. This time around I'm exercising, and skipping the dieting (with the same results, I think).
I'm with you on the ribs. The meat is probably tasty, but I just don't like to have to work that hard for my food! I want to be able to just shovel it in, rather than have to gnaw on a bone to get one little bite! :o)
Good pictures!
I agree with the ribs thing too...way to much work for very little meat.
wow...I love ribs! Maybe its just because my dad is THE expert on barbecued ribs:) cute pics...
That was a good entry. My oldest daughter is not too fond of messy meals like BBQ ribs but my son loves to eat meat. Another thing that makes boys and girls different.
My youngest is content eating peas from a baby food jar. She is the content one in our family.
I can't wait to see you on all this weekend! Have have at the Reunion! (you are coiming down THIS weekend, right?)
As messy as ribs get, your boys still look quite clean!
Ribs are yummy.
There's nothing more primal and satisfying than ripping the meat off a bone with nothing but your hands and teeth.
If I could simultaneously play with a fire, eat ribs, and shoot a gun... ya, that would be great.
